Renaissance
on the River Red
Sertoma's Fourth
Annual Convention of the Heart of America Region. Our
convention takes place in Wichita Falls, TX on April 23-25,
2009. Our convention will be held at the Howard Johnson.
Events include a Golf Tournament, Renaissance Talent Show, a big
banquet, and several side trips such as wine tasting, and
historical tours. Plus there are tons of places to shop!
It is family friendly so sign up as soon as possible!

Our
speaker for our May 1st meeting was Sgt. Bill Sink. Sgt.
Bill Sink, of the Watauga Department of Public Safety (DPS), spoke at
the May 1st meeting of the Watauga Sertoma Club. Sgt Sink provided
numerous statistics and information about the Watauga DPS. One of
the notable facts is that Watauga has a 4 minute average response time
for Police and 6 minutes for Fire departments.

Our
Current Project:
The club’s
current project is ”SHOES FOR KIDS” to provide shoes for the
underprivileged elementary students in the city. In addition we have
discovered that there are other necessities for the students that are
not provided by the school and Sertoma is going to take up the slack.
The
club’s efforts now center on gathering resources from various
businesses in the community to fund the current needs.
Through its not-for-profit status any donation to the club would
be “tax deductible”. If you’re considering a worthwhile cause,
join these and make a donation today.
